The Reunion Rabbit Producers Cooperative receives the Agri-Éthique fair trade label

A first in France for a rabbit sector. The Reunion Rabbit Producers Cooperative (CPLR) becomes holder of the Agri-Ethique label, the first French fair trade label. A distinction awarded to agricultural sectors in view of a section of commitments to eco-responsible societal and environmental practices, as well as a fair distribution of value.

Present at the Bras-Panon Agricultural Fair, from May 3 to 12, players in the Reunion rabbit industry explained to visitors the practices of pei rabbit breeders which enabled their cooperative to obtain this label. Since its creation in 2013, the Agri-Ethique label has become a symbol of quality and responsibility in the agricultural sector, recognizing the efforts of actors engaged in ethical and sustainable agriculture. The label distinguishes organizations that are committed to guaranteeing a fair and remunerative price to breeders and farmers., thus preserving employment, and which support eco-responsible societal and environmental practices. La CPLR, which brings together 100% of professional breeders in Reunion Island, declared itself “honored to receive this distinction which rewards our agroecological actions. The label recognizes our commitment to our producers, towards respectful agricultural practices and towards the Reunion community as a whole”.

The Rabbit Breeders Cooperative was present in the ARIBEV inter-professional space (Reunion Island Interprofessional Livestock Association, meats and milk) and ARIV (Réunion interprofessional poultry association). At reception, the CPLR producers’ stand, playful, stood next to that of the DEFI project, system supported by the ARIBEV and ARIV inter-professional associations to develop Reunion livestock and better meet consumer expectations in terms of quality and quantity of products. The CPLR offered the Ze Wall game on its stand and information on the rabbit industry and its commitments to the values ​​of solidarity., proximity, sustainability and territorial anchoring, on its short circuit model and its health protection criteria, animal welfare and farm cleanliness.
