For two and a half years, a group of young entrepreneurs host a podcast : once a month, one of them talks about his journey, his project, his successes and failures. They launched the Community of Overseas Entrepreneurs at the end of 2023, which allows you to meet online to work and exchange together.
The Community, as they prefer to call it, brings together entrepreneurs based in Reunion, in Martinique and France, who wish to move forward and progress together. To do this, members have instant messaging at their disposal, Discord, as well as access to a virtual coworking space, le Digital Cowork. You can log in daily, to find yourself, to work, to exchange. On this 100% digital coworking space, we are represented by a 2D avatar. April 10, 2024, a first large-scale event took place in the Digital Cowork in partnership with French Tech La Réunion : a conference by Benjamin Lan Sun Luk, Reunion entrepreneur living in Paris, founder of Leto, a start-up recognized as one of the most promising by the Station F start-up campus. Leto designed GDPR software that automates companies' compliance with personal data protection regulations. Benjamin Lan Sun Luk shared his twelve years of experience and his recent fundraising of 1,2 million euros. This event brought together virtually more than 30 people from all the French Overseas Territories for 1,2 million euros. and exchange with him.
A gateway to solidify
“The overseas ecosystem is full of talent around the world. Some have chosen not to physically return overseas, but they are keen to contribute to the development of their territory. Allow them to share their experience and exchange with overseas start-ups without geographical limits, it’s creating a bridge that needs to be solidified and that will pull everyone upwards.”, argue Frank Hoareau and Clément Marianne, founders of the Community. in mai, a second event was organized on female entrepreneurship in Martinique. In June and July, a challenge invited the members of the group to communicate better on the social network LinkedIn. “We are starting to be known and recognized. This allows us to sign partnerships that allow us to offer benefits to our members, such as free access to Station F during their visit to Paris, a reduction on accommodation, promos on their professional photos… Other projects are underway”, add the leaders of the Communu’.
