The permanent commission of the Réunion Region voted on June 30 to renew the exceptional system of freezing the purchase price of a gas bottle at a maximum of 15 euros., from July 1 to December 31, 2023. As part of the fight against the high cost of living, the Region had proposed to the Department to join in the implementation of this system, financed equally by the two communities and operational since August 1, 2022. This system had already been renewed the first time for an additional six months, from January 1, 2023 to June 30, 2023. Since the launch of this device, 13 million bottles were sold, which represented a financial effort from the two communities of 7,7 million euros.
