Between 400 and 1,000 euros per day! This is what the Eurocycleur terminal installed at the Leclerc center in La Réserve collects., un record national. Eurocycleur and Coinstar terminals allow you to exchange small coins for vouchers in stores. Coinstar France recently published a ranking of terminal performance by region. In the first half of 2023, Overseas regions, yet among the latest equipped, rank first among the regions with the most use of these terminals.

Commissioned at the Leclerc center in La Réserve (Sainte-Marie) in November 2022, the first Eurocycleur terminal installed in Reunion Island is one of the ones that collects the most small parts. Coins for vouchers to “wake up sleeping money” and restore purchasing power : the solution proposed by these terminals – there are today in all E.Leclerc shopping centers on the island – is unanimously accepted in this period of inflation. These terminals are also used by stores to collect small change for their cash register., which saves them time by avoiding having to go to the bank. They can also be used for competitions., to advertising campaigns, or to facilitate customer donations to associations, especially during the yellow part operation.

At the origin of the concept, the American company Coinstar established itself in France in 2018 by purchasing the French company Eurocycleur which offered the same service. With 1,225 terminals in operation to date, this Coinstar France service is accessible in almost all major retail brands. Each year it attracts nearly 2,3 million people. More than half a billion coins are recycled each year into vouchers.

Overseas territories at the top of the ranking
The success was immediate and, after that of the Leclerc center in La Réserve, Coinstar France has installed four other terminals in Reunion. This service was also launched in Guadeloupe, in Martinique and Guyana in January 2023 with the GBH group. Today, eleven stores are equipped with Coinstar France terminals, and these territories rank at the top of the top 10 best-performing regions in France by average collected per terminal, with an amount collected over this period of 887,649 euros for a monthly average per terminal of 13,450 euros. The terminal at the Leclerc center in La Réserve is the most efficient and most used with an amount collected from 400 to 1000 euros per day. It is the 1 and 2 cent coins that are recycled the most in the terminals.

A service appreciated by its users
“The arrival of the DROM COM* has shaken up a ranking that had been rather stable for years, and demonstrates to what extent our service was expected in the overseas departments. With growth of 23% in 2022 and 7% in the first half of 2023, “More and more large-scale retail customers are making ends meet with coins from their pockets”, welcomes Patrick de Baecque, Managing Director of Coinstar France.
