The call for contributions bore fruit : after two years of effort, the Kouler Lo Kèr association raised the funds allowing it to design the first known vehicle converted into a mobile and traveling hair salon.
The announcement was made by Stéphane Delphine, at the origin of the association of young hairdressers which provides free hairdressing and barbering services to people who are homeless or in very precarious circumstances. “The road has been long but we have been able to count on the involvement of many partners and donors, for your support and encouragement, and obviously nothing would have been possible without the work of the entire team of Kouler Lo Kèr volunteers”. Until then, the Kouler Lo Kèr team intervened on foot during marauding encounters with the SDF. They sat in the middle of the street, giving comfort to the most deprived. To work better and go further, they imagined transforming a truck into a traveling hair salon. The cost of the vehicle and its fittings was estimated at 40,000 euros.. Their message was widely relayed and support gradually came to give substance to this innovative project.. First of its kind, whether in mainland France or in the French Overseas Territories, the Kouler Lo Kèr solidarity “hair truck” can now work across the entire island. We understand that the association wishes to thank all its donors, and don't forget any.
