This experience, everyone knows her every time he or she leaves a hair salon : we immediately feel better. Almost everyone can… In 2019, the number of homeless people in Reunion was estimated at around 700. A situation which affected a group of young people who wanted to bring a little well-being to these people through hairdressing and barber services.
Thus was born the Kouler Lo Kèr association. Since, they go on marauding trips to meet the homeless and people in very precarious situations. They also work in municipalities, on demonstrations, in fact where we want them. “Our mission is simple : pay attention to them, style them” we read on the association’s website. Note that several hair salons on the island have supported this association..
Kouler lo Kèr somehow revives the ancient tradition of street barbers and hairdressers which lasted until the 50s and 60s in Reunion.. But in 2021, and with the more specific aim of bringing comfort to the most deprived, the best would be if they had a traveling hair salon. The association therefore launched a call for contributions for the purchase of a cell truck which could be transformed into a traveling salon : the Koul Hair Lo Car truck.
This call led IAE students to mobilize and was supported by the association of overseas communication consulting agencies.. A traveling truck show could work across the entire island much more easily and efficiently than marauding on foot., while guaranteeing the privacy of the hairdressing act. But the cost is significant since it is estimated at 40,000 euros. The need is still relevant.
