Julien Dujardin succeeded Eric Legrigeois as chairman of the board of directors of the Grand Port Maritime de La Réunion on July 8. Bridge and Road Engineer, he was until then deputy general director of the port of Nantes–Saint-Nazaire. Julien Dujardin had previously held several positions in Dunkirk and Le Havre.
To Port Reunion, its mission is to manage the projects which will be validated as part of the 2024-2028 strategic project.
In a weak economic context, the commercial port recorded an 8% drop in traffic in 2023, at 5,156 million tonnes, its lowest level since 2015. The Grand Maritime Port nevertheless pursues an active investment policy. In particular, he is awaiting delivery at the end of the year of a floating dock, in the amount of 19,5 million euros, co-financed by the State and Europe. The acquisition of this equipment should enable the structuring of the ship repair sector in Reunion Island., important part of the Territory of Industry contract signed between the Western Territory and the State, and supported by the Réunion Region.
