This is the promise of Isleden, the e-commerce platform reserved for overseas, launched at the beginning of October. No more refusals or bad delivery experiences. Isleden optimizes reception conditions, no surcharge on arrival.
The origin of Iceland (contraction of “Island” and “Eden”), the observation that many French and international e-commerce sites do not deliver to Reunion and other overseas departments. Cyril Nau, native of the island and purchasing expert, logistics and management of large high-tech projects, imagined in 2019 a commercial site to correct this lack. After five years of perfecting its logistics and its online sales platform, Isleden is operational in its completed version, enriched with a very significant number of new suppliers and product references. Isleden provides groupage, shipping, customs clearance and logistics reimbursement in the event of returns or after-sales service. The platform includes five sites giving access to the same offer in the five overseas departments (Meeting, Mayotte, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyana). A potential e-commerce market estimated at more than two billion euros, including a good billion for Reunion. The site www.isleden.re provides access, at the beginning of October, to over a million items in the home and garden categories, du high-tech, lifestyle and child.
All-inclusive deliveries in 15 days
If the major e-commerce players abandon overseas departments and regions, this is because the latter are considered export territories and subject to customs constraints, which makes shipping more expensive. Local e-commerce players operating on narrower or more specialized offers, a boulevard opens up to major general e-commerce from the metropolis. Other players are also on this market. This is why Isleden has organized itself to optimize product referencing and delivery., without any additional customs fees or surcharges on arrival. The Isleden project plans to integrate local suppliers. Isleden will be able to offer home delivery within two weeks from its platform located south of Paris and within 48 hours for items present locally.. With its cumulative advantages, Isleden sets the bar high with a target of 20 million euros in turnover in 2025.
Three questions for Cyril Nau, founder of Isleden
Is Reunion Island the main market for Isleden? ?
We are deploying a communication campaign in Reunion in October, November and December with Havas. It is indeed on Reunion Island that I concentrate our resources, because it is the biggest market and there is a real expectation in Reunion for an e-commerce solution.
How do you position yourself in terms of price ?
What are the reasons why the prices of metropolitan e-commerce sites are high? ? Either the site includes shipping and passes transport and customs clearance costs on to its customers, either you go through an intermediary who bears the same transport costs and must take his margin. We lower these prices by setting up bundling. We have worked a lot with carriers and with La Poste to reduce these costs.. We consolidate orders to distribute them locally, which makes it possible to seriously reduce the approach costs. I'm not saying we will be cheaper on all products, but our objective is to have the most relevant approach to costs possible thanks to logistics management.
You plan to integrate local suppliers ?
The goal is for the customer who goes to Isleden to find the product they need.. We build the widest possible catalog by integrating all imaginable suppliers in France and Europe.. More, if a product is present in the territory, no need to make him take the plane from mainland France. This is why we also want to offer suppliers with local stocks the opportunity to integrate our platform., which would allow these products to be delivered in 48 hours.
