Since 2016, 79,5 million euros, i.e. 100% of available funding, were engaged within the framework of the European Interreg V program, supporting regional cooperation projects. Without surprise, this assessment received a favorable opinion from the Monitoring Committee which was held on December 8 at the Hôtel de Région, management authority of the program which benefited 249 projects. The Interreg VI program was also presented to the participants, including representatives of the Comorian governments, Malagasy, Mauritian and Seychellois and the departmental council of Mayotte. For the period 2021-2027, this program has a budget of 62,3 million euros. Its perimeter covers the territories of Reunion, Mayotte and third countries having expressed their agreement on its content : the Southern and Antarctic lands, Maurice, Seychelles, the Comoros, Madagascar, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Kenya, India, Australia and the Maldives. Grants will be awarded to projects presented by entities belonging to at least two countries and responding to various strategic priorities : collaborative research and economic cooperation, resilience and sustainable development of territories, cooperative governance in the Indian Ocean, opening of populations to the area.
