Specialized in psychiatric care and functional rehabilitation, the Les Flamboyants Group was the subject of a lot of news at the end of 2021 with, in quick succession, the inauguration at the end of November of its South health center in Saint-Pierre and, a few days later, the laying of the first stone of the future Eastern psychiatric clinic in Bras-Panon. The opportunity to discover the importance of this private health group operating four establishments in Reunion.
“Become better known, it also helps to destigmatize psychiatry” declares Dr. Gérard d’Abbadie, founder and president of Les Flamboyants Group, to explain the spotlighting of a Reunion player in the health sector who had been rather discreet until then. The strengthening of the Les Flamboyant Group’s healthcare offering first materialized with the inauguration of its South health center in Saint-Pierre.. Providing a comprehensive healthcare offering to residents of the southern micro-region responded to a demand from the population. “By strengthening our health center in the south, we wanted to get closer to patients and their places of hospitalization” explains Aude d’Abbadie-Savalli, daughter of Gérard d’Abbadie, who is responsible for the general management of the Les Flamboyants Group. This local approach began in 2012, with the establishment of the Les Flamboyants Sud Clinic in Saint-Pierre. People suffering from pathologies were no longer obliged to go to the West to benefit from care, whether in a day hospital or in full hospitalization. The establishment has around thirty beds for young adults.. Since October, he completed his care offering with a child psychiatry unit for young people aged 12 to 25. All pathologies of adolescents and young adults are now covered : depressive episodes, tentative de suicide, bipolar disorder, addictions… Supervised by a team of 28 professionals, young people benefit from access to different therapeutic activities and can continue to attend school.
Functional rehabilitation
Like in the West, patients from the South also have, for over a year, access to a specialized functional rehabilitation establishment. Les Tamarins Sud opened its doors in November 2020 with the aim of rehabilitation, rehabilitation and reintegration of patients. This other establishment of the Les Flamboyants Group is mainly specialized in the treatment of two types of pathologies : disorders of the nervous system and those of the musculoskeletal system. In total, there are 130 professionals who welcome patients in day hospitalization and in full hospitalization. 170 positions were created to operate the structure of the South health center.
A public-private partnership
The Les Flamboyant Group’s private care offering is complementary to the public offering.. It promotes proximity to patient care in an area, mental health, where contact with family is essential. The investments of the Les Flamboyants Group also contribute to rebalancing the healthcare offering across the island., as Aude d’Abbadie Savalli explains : “We are proud to be able to offer our patients in the Southern region comprehensive care, whether in psychiatry or functional rehabilitation. We hope to be able to further reduce inequalities in access to care, particularly in mental health, by opening a psychiatric establishment in the east of the island in the coming months. »
A psychiatric clinic in Bras-Panon
The laying of the first stone of the future Les Flamboyants de l’Est clinic took place on December 2 in Bras-Panon. Particularly architecturally studied, this new mental health establishment benefits from the experience of the group's existing establishments. “Architecture is an important therapeutic vector” underlines Gérard d’Abbadie. As soon as it opens, the future clinic will have the following specialized care units : a child psychiatric unit (12 -18 ans), a young adult unit (18-25 ans), adults, a reinforced surveillance unit, to which will be added the first geriatric-psychiatry unit in Reunion, intended for the elderly. The investment amounts to more than 20 million euros. Between doctors, paramedical staff, technical and administrative, around a hundred jobs will see the light of day; A major recruitment effort is planned for Bras-Panon and its surroundings. Opening of the clinic in January 2023.
MENTAL HEALTH AS A SPECIALTY
The Les Flamboyants Group was created in 1995 by its current president, Dr. Gérard d’Abbadie, and his wife Marie-Andrée, both psychiatrists. First private actor to specialize in mental health in Reunion, the group has developed and diversified over the years while retaining its family business values. Directed by Aude d’Abbadie-Savalli, the group currently has more than 380 employees spread across four establishments (and soon five with the Eastern Clinic). The Les Flamboyants Ouest and Les Flamboyants Sud clinics specialize in the treatment of depressive and neurotic illnesses. ; the Les Tamarins Ouest and Tamarins Sud clinics, in follow-up care and functional rehabilitation.
