The first 150 winners of the Green Fund were designated on April 3. Eighteen of them are overseas, including seven from Reunion. They will benefit in total from an envelope of 1,4 million d’euros. Two of them concern the city of Saint-Denis : the creation of a mini coastal urban forest along Lancastel Boulevard, on the site of the old library and the creation of a green space on the Flamboyant islet, at the Cauldron. The city of Port is also among the winners for its project to develop the banks of the Rivière des Galets, just like that of Avirons for the greening of the exterior facades of the town hall and the Paul-Hermann elementary school. In the area of waste, the Green Fund will support Les Trois-Bassins in the acquisition of a green waste crusher and the marine biology and ecology design office Galaxea for the elimination of metal waste from the lagoon. Announced in August 2022, the fund to accelerate the ecological transition in the territories, also called Green Fund, is endowed with two billion euros. It will consist of helping, from this year, local authorities and their partners to accelerate their ecological transition. Ambitious objectives have been set at the national level : carbon neutrality and zero net artificialization by 2050.
