According to the 2022 annual franchise survey, a large majority of franchisees were employees before launching and a majority of franchisors favor recruitment among their employees.
Franchisees are 36 years old on average when they open their first point of sale. At the time of their installation, a quarter of franchisees decide to change region. 76% of franchisees were employees before starting a franchise (they were 72% in 2020). otherwise, one in two franchisees changed sector of activity when creating their franchise business. The selection of new franchisees is one of the major concerns of franchisors (83 %). Franchisor side, the survey reveals that half of them (52 %) promote the recruitment of franchisees among their employees or in their network. In order to offer the best chances of success to their new franchisees, Nearly two out of three franchisors favor coaching or sponsorship. A large majority of franchisors (84 %) offer initial training to franchise staff. Despite a context of health crisis having postponed certain installation projects, 93% of franchisors have created at least one point of sale in the last twelve months, with twelve points of sale open on average.
