From January 1, 2022, the Anti-Waste law for a Circular Economy leads to major developments : distributors are required to take back used furniture from their customers. To best mesh the territory, and offer local collection, Eco-mobilier is seeking to strengthen its network of reception points and is launching a call for applications which can be sent continuously to the eco-organization.

Created in December 2011 by 12 distributors and 12 French manufacturers, Eco-mobilier is the eco-organization approved by the public authorities to manage the collection, the three, recycling and energy recovery of all furniture, used furniture and layout elements as well as to encourage their reuse. A mission carried out successfully, since to date Eco-mobilier has collected more than three million tonnes of used furniture, valued at nearly 95% and aimed at 2023, zero waste for furniture. The compulsory take-back of used products by brands is one of the measures of the Anti-Waste law for a Circular Economy (AGEC) which comes into force from January 2022. Furniture and bedding distributors will be required to take back used furniture and mattresses from their customers free of charge.. This service must be offered by stores of more than 200 m2 or during deliveries, when purchasing similar goods. Stores with a sales area exceeding 1000 m2 will offer, them, a recovery without compensation. E-commerce is also affected : brands and sellers on the internet will have to offer a free take-back. Before the conclusion of the sale, all – stores and websites – must inform their customers of the return conditions either in store, either upon delivery, or by dropping it off at a local collection point.

Strengthen the network of reception points
Eco-mobilier currently has a network of 130 reception points and wishes to strengthen its local network to support its members in their new obligations.. The objective is to have a denser network of reception points in order to be able to offer a local solution to furniture and bedding sellers and their delivery networks.. Urban areas, notably commercial zones and activity zones, are particularly targeted, To be eligible, partners must have the regulatory capacity to accommodate non-hazardous waste (volume 30m3) and have an approved scale to be able to weigh the contributions. Contracts will be for one year, renewable.
