INSEE conducted a new edition of its spatial comparison survey of price levels between French territories in March and April 2022. Results will be published in mid-2023. The survey makes it possible to compare consumer price levels between mainland France and overseas departments and regions., between the province and Corsica, and between the province and the urban unit of Paris, to products as close as possible. Differences in price levels will be calculated by major consumption function as well as for all consumption. The differences will be calculated for different consumption baskets, notably those of the overseas departments and regions and that of the mainland territory to measure the impact of different consumption patterns between territories. In addition, for the first time, it is planned to calculate price differences by category of households, particularly according to their standard of living. In 2015, according to INSEE, the price gap between Reunion and mainland France reached 7,1 %. Consuming the Reunion basket in mainland France then cost 3,6% cheaper ; conversely, a metropolitan household doing its usual purchases in Reunion spent 10,6% more than in mainland France. The price difference calculated in 2015 was reduced compared to 2010.
