In order to promote access to the Internet and make the region more attractive via digital technology, 13 WiFi access points have been put into service in various public places in the town of Port. “At a time when the price of mobile still remains too high and inaccessible for many users, especially the most deprived ; where the deployment of 3G networks, 4G and 5G operators are struggling to keep up with demand and the development of dematerialization of services is accentuating electronics, the city of the Port is committed to a policy of general interest by deploying public WiFi, everywhere, all the time and for everyone”, comments the town hall. 12 additional terminals will be put into service in October. The total cost of the project, 45% financed by the departmental council through the Territorial Solidarity Pact, amounts to 127,000 euros.
