The start of the different School of Wine programs & Spirits Business (SWSB), reference in wine and spirits management, confirm the strong feminization of the sector observed for several years.
The intake took place over several weeks between September and October, with, for English-speaking programs, seminars in the idyllic setting of the Château de Gilly-Lès-Cîteaux. This year again, more than 170 students are welcomed, of whom almost two thirds are international and also almost two thirds are women. This year's class is sponsored by Laurent Delaunay., owner of Badet Clément & Edouard Delaunay. Training, whose attractiveness cannot be denied, remain closely linked to developments in the sector. They strengthen their international dimension and their feminization, as well as their prism around digital and sustainable development. With 24 participants, the new class of MBA Wine & Spirits Business is the largest since the program's inception in 2018. The students come from 10 nationalities, including six US nationals and five Chinese. Canada, South Korea, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Taiwan, Ukraine and France are also represented. “We have 16 women and eight men, which confirms the strong feminization of the sector observed in recent years” underlines Jacques Thébault, director of the MBA. “The average age goes from 31 to 35, which demonstrates even stronger profiles. A good half come from the wine sector, the other not at all : the program is really made for people with high potential who want to boost their profile or retrain. » The increase in feminization and internationalization is also found in other SWSB programs.
Sustainability in the wine sector
“Business involvement is increasing in our programs, at the same time as the international dimension” explains Jérôme Gallo, director of the SWSB. “We want to be very agile in the content we offer, to be as close as possible to the evolution of a sector which generates many challenges and opportunities. » Thus the rise in power on the subject of sustainability (concrete sustainable development) is measured by multiplication, throughout the year, conferences and interventions by numerous experts who endeavor to take stock of the complexity of the problem. The focus on digital also sees its duration doubled this year. Finally, study trips resume their course, in New York, in Germany, in Tuscany or in the various French vineyards, and even in Greece for the second edition of the Greek Wineries Project in June 2022.

More than 180 students of around twenty nationalities, from five continents, are trained each year within programs led by the SWSB. SWSB has a dedicated teaching staff. It relies on an international BSB professional network of more than 16,000 graduates, including 2,000 in the wine and spirits sector.
