Nets against dumping of garbage at sea

At the end of April, Cinor launched an experiment consisting of installing nets at the outlet of four rainwater evacuation nozzles towards the sea., in order to retain waste carried away by precipitation and to avoid marine pollution. The operation is carried out in partnership with the Approved Association for Fishing and Protection of the Aquatic Environment of Rivières du Nord. Four rainwater outlets have been equipped : opposite the Ylang-Ylang school and at the Fraternity footbridge (Bottom of the Saint-Denis River), on the Sainte-Marie River, near the municipal police station and in Sainte-Suzanne, rue du 20-décembre. Once a week an agent comes to report on the progress of the filling of each net. The waste removal process will be done once a month. They will then be transported to the transit center in Jamaica to be weighed and brought back to the association's headquarters for sorting and weighing by category., before being sent for recycling. If the system proves effective after two years, other rainwater outlets will be equipped.
