The increase in business failures remained very marked in Reunion in the 2nd quarter of 2024, according to the latest figures from the Overseas Departments Issuing Institute.
It rose to +51,4 %, concerned all sectors and contributes mainly to the overall evolution of liquidations and judicial recovery throughout the Overseas Territories. Between June 2023 and June 2024, the progression of insolvencies has slowed in almost all sectors. The number of overseas business failures (2 309) continued to progress in the 2nd quarter, but less quickly than in the previous quarter (+19,1% over one year, after +29,6 %). The situation continues to improve in Polynesia and Guyana, elsewhere the progression of insolvencies is less rapid than in the previous quarter, except in Reunion. The most worrying situation remains that of New Caledonia, where a surge in insolvencies is feared by the end of the year.
