February 8 was held in Paris, at the Eiffel Tower Theater, the 2024 Victoires de la Beauté awards ceremony. More than 60 brands were rewarded during this event. Among them, two young Reunion brands committed to responsible beauty, Omaido and Pitaya.
The Victoires de la Beauté are a reference event for cosmetics professionals (manufacturers, distributors, journalists, influencers…). Since 2003, year of creation of this event, products from big and small brands, French and international, including private labels, are tested, and consumer favorites are rewarded each year in different categories. Because the originality of the Victoires de la Beauté lies in the fact that the products are tested exclusively by juries of independent consumers., selected according to their consumption habits of cosmetic products and their profiles : age, sex, carnation, type of hair… Consumers test the products at home for a period of between two and sixteen weeks depending on the type of product and give them a satisfaction rating. The tests are carried out blindly on ordinary products to avoid influencing the juries through knowledge of the brand and the elegance of the packaging.. Nearly two thousand consumer testers were mobilized for the Victoires de la Beauté 2023-2024. Bonus points can be added to the satisfaction rating “which concern the composition of the product, the recyclability rate of the packaging and the company’s sustainability commitments”, says the organizer, Monadia. According to categories, the threshold required to be a winner varies between 13 and 16/20.
Pitaya, a range of natural and organic products
Pitaya Natural Kosmetik Island Balm, cleanser and exfoliator, with coconut and pineapple powders, was awarded in the “organic and virtuous” category. Its efficiency, its 100% natural and organic formula, the very high recyclability rate of its packaging and Pitaya’s sustainable commitments, allowed the Balsam of the Islands, flagship product of the brand, to stand out with a total cumulative score of 21,2/20. The Balm of the Islands, made from pineapple and coconut stems, was launched with four other products in January 2023 by Emmanuelle Tron, fondatrice de Pitaya Kosmetik. This first range, called L’Essentielle, is distributed in mainland France, as well as in Reunion. If the manufacturing of beauty treatments is done in mainland France, Pitaya Kosmetik defines itself as a committed Reunion brand, born from the desire to produce natural products, organic and suitable for all skin and hair types. The active ingredients in this range are in fact natural and come exclusively from the Indian Ocean., mainly from Madagascar. Pitaya Natural Kosmetik uses hydrosol instead of water to formulate its products. THE PRIMORDIAL BI-PHASE CARE OIL, A NEW OMAÏDO
“I am proud of my Victoire de la Beauté Responsible award and the score of 19,5/20 which was attributed to my primordial bi-phase treatment oil”, se félicite Marina Féat-Gultzgoff, founder of Omaïdo, one of the very first French brands of refrigerated care. “Our oil was blind tested by 40 consumers for four weeks and rated according to four criteria : satisfaction globale, efficiency, texture and scent. Our formula has been scrutinized by Inci Beauty*, which detects the slightest controversial raw material. The recyclability rate of our packaging was analyzed by Citeo. » Omaïdo, also, uses hydrosol and not water in the formulation of its products. Finally, the manufacture in France of the product was taken into consideration. Launched a few weeks ago, the primordial bi-phase care oil is new from Omaïdo. COLD FORMULATED COSMETICS
When it is created in 2022, Omaïdo was the first French brand of cold-formulated beauty treatments based on entirely natural ingredients.. “The formulation restores all of the active ingredients. Coupled with their naturalness, this is the guarantee of the very high effectiveness of the products”, explique Marina Féat-Gultzgoff, who obtain their supplies from Reunionese farmers, for the turmeric, Bourbon geranium, sugar, and a Mahorais farmer for ylang-ylang, ingredients used in the composition of its products. Keeping cool (in the refrigerator) cold-formulated products from Omaïdo ensure their longevity is much greater than normal. The period after opening (PAO) Omaïdo products are, at room temperature, six months or, kept cool, twelve months. A product from Omaïdo’s first range, the hydrating botanical serum, was awarded at the Cosmetiquemag Awards, section Indies & Beauty Tech Forum, in 2002 : gold medal in the “specific facial care” category.
