The regional support system for territorial continuity will undergo significant changes from April 1, 2022. Opposition regional councilors only weakly protested, March 18, when these changes were recorded by the vote on the initial 2022 budget. Even if the health crisis, as well as the end of the payment of aid to Reunion Islanders in mainland France, interrupted the budgetary drift in 2020 and 2021, the flagship measure of the “Didier Robert era” became too costly for the community. 53 million euros in 2019... The modifications made exclude from the system high incomes who practiced tax optimization and limit the payment of aid to one year out of three. The new “territorial continuity” is now articulated with the aid of the State, paid by the overseas agency for mobility (Ladom), which had been forgotten in recent years because it was less interesting than that of the Region. Households whose family quotient is less than 6,000 euros) will be entitled to aid of 360 euros, supplemented by 100 euros by the regional council. Between 6,000 to 12,000 euros family quotient, Ladom will pay 360 euros. Beyond and up to 26,030 euros of “QF”, the Region will drop 200 euros.
