The European Union, first economic partner
In 2022, trade between the Comoros and the European Union amounted to 81 million euros (+7,2% compared to 2021). Excluding petroleum products from the United Arab Emirates, Europe is the country's main economic partner with 18,7% of exchanges, according to figures communicated last March during a new round of negotiations for the economic partnership agreement with the countries of Eastern and Southern Africa.. The European Union is the main destination for Comorian exports (26,7% you total, which amounted to 37 million euros in 2022), followed by Tanzania (23,9 %) and India (22,7 %). The main export products in 2022 were cloves (66,9% you total), followed by vanilla (7,9 %) et de l'ylang-ylang (4,5 %). Comorian clove exports increased from 2,785 tonnes to 8,399 tonnes in one year. France alone represents 71% of Comorian exports to Europe.
