Coinstar France conquers Europe

The company Coinstar France was present at the 2024 edition of EuroCIS, the largest retail tech show in Europe, from February 27 to 29, in Dusseldorf, or, in the Cash Handling product category & Management, the company exhibited two of its terminals for transforming parts into vouchers made in France.

Coinstar France is a subsidiary of the Coinstar group, the world leader in self-service coin counting terminals. A service present in Reunion since it equips the E.Leclerc stores on the island. The company offers a simple and practical solution for using dormant currency (from 1 cent to 2 euros) and transform it into vouchers. This service which attracts every year 2,3 million French people have existed in mainland France for nineteen years, and since the end of 2022 in the DROM-COM. With more than 1,250 points of sale equipped, Coinstar France counts and redistributes nearly 46 million euros in coins per year in the French economy, the equivalent of more than 600 million pieces in small, medium and large food stores. Present in the biggest brands (Auchan, Carrefour, Casino, E.Leclerc, Intermarket, U system), terminals have become a standard in mass distribution. Coinstar France already equips a third of hypermarkets and almost a quarter of French supermarkets. Perceived as a “good plan” to help regain purchasing power, this service finds an increasingly wider audience due to inflation. The French subsidiary offers two types of terminals : Coinstar and Eurocycler (branded Coinstar internationally). In addition to converting coins into vouchers, the terminals offer gaming options, of donations (Coinstar France is an official partner of Yellow Coins operations) and advertising. In 2023, the company won the prize for creative and innovative SME in the South-West region of the PME RMC awards.

A service adapted to all store formats
The solution is also present in Belgium, Spain, Italy, Poland, Romania and Luxembourg. For each country, the program is translated into its language and adapted to its currency. Coinstar France plans to significantly accelerate its growth in Europe in 2024. Hence its participation in the major retail event that is the EuroCIS trade show.. The two terminals exhibited at the EuroCIS show are the EMini and the V6 “100% made in France”. Innovation 2021, the EMini is the most compact terminal in the range, designed for convenience stores and small supermarkets. Conversely, the V6 terminal is the largest terminal in the range, intended for large supermarkets and hypermarkets. With Eurocycleur terminals made by disabled people in an ESAT located in Aveyron, the company offers a service adapted to all store formats, from shops in the heart of cities to large hypermarkets in the outskirts, a model of commercial urban planning that is found throughout Europe.

41 BILLION COINS IN 24,000 TERMINALS

Founded in the United States thirty years ago, the Coinstar group has the largest network of automatic self-service coin counting terminals. Present in nine countries with more than 24,000 terminals, Coinstar brings a service to mass distribution, but also to banking networks. Nearly 41 billion coins, worth three billion dollars, are counted each year. Many other options, such as buying bitcoins and getting e-gift cards, are now offered internationally by the Coinstar group.
