The CMA-CGM foundation responded to the call from the Mascarene Food Bank, which must cope with the increase in requests for food parcels in recent months in Reunion.
Last September 27, the Food Bank received a reefer container at its Port site (refrigerated) 40 feet containing 21 pallets of frozen products (meats, Pisces, vegetables). Offered by the CMA-CGM foundation, the container will remain on site and will serve as a negative cold room for storing frozen foods. The increase in demand actually leads to an increase in storage needs., which requires finding new logistical solutions. The foundation of the French shipping company responded to requests from the Food Bank as part of a national partnership with the French Federation of Food Banks. It includes several components : financial support which enabled the distribution of the equivalent of 250,000 meals in 2022, handling maritime freight for containers coming from France (13 tonnes of meat products and butter had already been transported in September 2022), logistical and human support for the annual collection organized by the Food Bank, and the donation of storage containers.
