On October 23, Citalis presented the first electric bus in its fleet. The 12 meter long vehicle can carry 90 passengers and has a range of 250 kilometers on a single charge thanks to its lithium-ion batteries.
Built by Mercedes-Benz, it is equipped with the latest generation of batteries which avoid unnecessary energy losses. Its energy saving air conditioning system includes a beneficial effect heat pump on its autonomy. Its driving aid systems incorporate a sound simulator which generates a noise similar to that of a heat engine used at 30 km/hour. Its emergency braking system warns the conductor of collision risk with pedestrians or cyclists while triggering partially automatic braking. Another detection system warns the driver of an unpaid presence in front of the bus when the latter is stopped. Data sensors related to the use of the bus will finally allow consumption monitoring, vehicle behavior based on topography, vehicle load, weather conditions and driving practices.
