Canal+ Réunion is continuing its local editorial strategy more than ever in 2024, by supporting the production of documentaries and programs anchoring the television channel to the territory.
The escape, the laugh, information and sport remain the pillars of Canal+ Réunion’s PEI television offering in 2024. For years the channel has been working to promote in particular, at the local level, female talents and an image of women freed from the simplistic and sexist stereotypes that still fill the screens. The visibility of people with disabilities is another objective of the channel's local programming.. Canal+ Réunion intends to contribute to changing mentalities in order also to cultivate this image of youth in Réunion, d’invention, of creativity, which has always formed the identity of Canal+. Canal+ Réunion has announced support for 20 projects in 2024, with several new features that will clearly distinguish the channel in the local audiovisual landscape. Starting with It Happened Near Zot’s House, broadcast of “documentaries lifting the veil on unsaid things, social facts, unresolved cases, having marked Reunion Island”. Canal+ Réunion introduces true crime, true crime stories, in the meeting. With Réyéné in the feminine, the cause of women stands out even more clearly in the new call for projects “Committing to the future” (whose 2023 winners were revealed in January). General theme on which the candidate teams will have to work : the memory and recognition of women who worked for major social causes, societal, environmental issues in Reunion. Co-financed by the CNC and the Réunion Region, “Committing to the future” is a true signature of Canal+ Réunion and proof of its commitment to moving society forward.. The four 52-minute documentaries which will be awarded this year will each receive aid of €35,000. The jury will be chaired by César-winning director Andréa Bescond. Three dates to remember : August 15 for submission of files, end of September 2024 for the jury's decision, mid-2026 for the broadcast of films.
Manu Payet, culinary guide
In terms of creations, three investigative reports and the launch of a documentary series. Rond-point de combat gives a voice to the occupants of the Azalées roundabout in Le Tampon. Verbatim collects the testimony of women victims of domestic violence in search of reconstruction. The Omerta tower plays on words to evoke the little-known origin of the old Omega tower which stood until 1999 at more than 400 meters high in Cambaie. But the main event of the year will be more entertaining since it will feature none other than comedian Manu Payet, Who, in a series of three 26-minute documentaries directed by Sébastien Folin, introduces a metropolitan traveler to Reunion’s gastronomic culture. A sport, remember that Canal+ Réunion provides the most complete coverage of the Grand Raid each year with its specific channel Canal Grand Raid, a sure value.
