Brossard : 90 years of gourmet innovations

In 1931, Georges and Laure Brossard gave birth to the brand of pastries that has become legendary, from fruit cakes to Savane to gingerbread. Owned since 2011 by the Limagrain cooperative, Brossard is more than ever positioned as number one in elaborate pastries with more than 50 references and 30% market share.

Who says Brossard, Said Savannah : a story in the history of the brand. In 2022, the famous cake blows out its 60 candles. Pioneer of long-life cake at its launch, in 1962, Savane has grown with the times and played its part in the liberation of women's daily lives thanks to its practicality and flavors popular with children. Two chocolate waves, this is the imprint that the Savanna leaves in the minds. Originally, the Brossard couple, two visionaries who perceived the emergence of new lifestyles and the arrival of new distribution methods with supermarkets at the end of the 1950s. They then decided to develop cake recipes adapted to society's expectations.. That is to say practical, available at any time and kept for a long time. Savanna is born, which quickly established itself as the emblem of the Brossard house. A few figures give the measure of the success of Savane : a Savane product is sold every two seconds in France, Savane is present in one in three homes, the range represents 60% of Brossard’s sales !

Fruit Cakes and Brownies
When it was launched in 1974, the range of fruit cakes is number one with 48% market share. High in colors and flavors, Brossard fruit cake has also evolved with the times. If the taste hasn't changed, the recipe if, and in 2022, the entire range is classified Nutri-Score C. Brossard replaced the coloring of candied fruits with a concentrate of vegetables and fruits. Another flagship treat – since its creation in 1996 – the Brossard Brownie remains the leader in its category, with 35% market share. In chocolate chips or with hazelnuts, the Brownie was a great success and the brand once again innovated by giving birth in 2012 to the “cookie brownie”, became the Brookie in 2019.

Reconciling gluttony and responsibility
Elimination of hydrogenated fats in 2008, elimination of palm oil for family savannahs in 2014, Then, in 2020, removal of glucose-fructose syrup from individual Savanes… Brossard has evolved the Savane recipe, allowing it to benefit from the latest nutritional innovations, notably reducing the sugar levels of a large number of its pastries. Brossard managed to upgrade 85% of the references in the Savane range to Nutri-Score C. Le Savane paved the way for all Brossard cakes, which will be palm oil free by 2023. In June 2020, Brossard was the first industrial pastry brand to display the Nutri-Score on its products. The brand has since prohibited itself from marketing NutriScore E products.. In 2016, she was also the first to sign a charter of nutritional progress commitments as part of the National Nutrition and Health Program (PNNS). otherwise, 90% of its supplies come from France and 100% of its packaging comes from recycled cardboard and is recyclable.
