Brasserie Licorne closed the year 2023 with a 17% increase in its sales in large and medium-sized stores, consolidating its position as a challenger in the beer market. This growth is supported by the success of its range of specialty beers, Slash, and an increase in distribution in all regions of France.

In 2023, beer once again takes first place in supermarket alcohol sales. Yet in decline (-5 %), the beer market continues to gain value with premium beers which are driving the market upwards and compensating for losses in volume. Consumers buy less (1,3 L per purchase), but more expensive with an average ticket of 7,9 €. In this context, Brasserie Licorne “outperforms” with growth of 6% in volume and 17% in value. Thanks to a diversified brand portfolio, based on unique beers, with atypical and varied flavors, Brasserie Licorne is progressing in distribution in all regions with referencing in new centers. From now on, Unicorn and Slash operate in distinct brand territories, responding to complementary consumer profiles. Finally, the trend is still towards specialty beers, which remains the largest beer segment and in which the Slash range achieves remarkable performances. With average weekly sales of 12 on average and growth of 46% in 2023, Slash Red and Mango respectively establish themselves as the second and third best references for fruity beers in cans ! With its eye-catching design featuring a wild unicorn (la Wildcorne, a creation of the brand) and its unique flavors, Slash attracts younger consumers, urban, in search of originality and moments of pleasure. Slash also multiplies the available formats, like the 75 cL launched in 2023 and acclaimed for its user-friendly character.

In 2024, Unicorn brewery known for innovating
Building on its development in 2023, Brasserie Licorne aims to conquer the rest of French territory. Already present in most brands, listed this year nationally at Carrefour and Monoprix, it intends to continue its growth by relying on its two pillar brands, Unicorn and Slash, massively supported in the media. In 2024 the Brewery is banking on new recipes. Starting with Slash Citrus, a citrus-based beer light in alcohol (4,6 % alc./vol.), which has completed the fruity range since March. Unicorn side, a NEIPA (New England indian pale ale) which has the same intense aromas, fruity and hoppy, but with a more moderate bitterness than its big sister IPA : its orange-yellow color and generous white foam will reveal a light and very aromatic beer. The “elixir” hops used in its manufacture bring juicy notes of tropical fruits, citrus, and floral. An explosion of flavors for this refined and refreshing brew with discreet bitterness. It’s from Saverne, in Alsace, that radiates Brasserie Licorne.
