Redevelopment project for the west entrance to Saint-Denis, NEO was the subject of a public debate which took place from September 15 to December 31 under the aegis of the National Commission for Public Debate (CNDP). The latter produced the results of this debate listing a certain number of recommendations and proposals to which project owners must respond within three months.. So, the Region which is piloting this operation (and finance mainly) met with its partners during a steering committee on April 19, 2021, to analyze the results of this debate and draw conclusions. The public debate reinforced the opportunity of the project, the majority of arguments having expressed the need to review this site while retaining a certain number of its strong markers (vegetation, historical heritage, activities, etc.). For city entrance and connection to the NRL, it is a slight evolution of the New Bridge project over the Saint-Denis River (which will be put into service at the end of 2021) which appeared to be the most relevant solution because it is less expensive and more favorable to public transport and active modes. For the development of Barachois, the solution which clearly appears to best meet the challenges is the sea route. The Barachois will thus be returned to pedestrians and active modes as well as to public transport through a clean site which will ultimately make it possible to accommodate a tramway..
