In October, the prefecture set up a barometer to monitor the prices of around sixty consumer products., complementary to the monthly household consumer price index from INSEE. The implementation of this tool was entrusted to the company Sagis, which delivered its first results at the beginning of November, then a second wave at the end of December. In the mass distribution sector, the slight increase in the average index of all the references monitored since the launch of the barometer (+0,9%) in reality hides a very strong disparity between the types of products. Fresh products (+0,3%), grocery products (+0,3%) and hygiene products (-0,5%) present almost stable average indices throughout the ten weeks of observation ; the average index of fruits and vegetables increases by 4,1% on the total of the period studied, with a clear drop over the last two weeks. In specialized stores, the average index of all products monitored has increased sharply since the launch of the barometer (+5,6%).
