B Corp certification is defined as an international movement of companies acting in the general public interest beyond economic performance.
B Corp stands for “Benefit Corporation”. Also known as B Corporation or B Lab label, this certification is aimed at commercial companies meeting societal and environmental requirements, as well as governance and transparency towards the public. “The name B Corp designates a company recognized for having beneficial effects on the world, while being profitable. »The social and environmental performances of companies are evaluated to define their impact on society. Companies are audited (pair B Lab) on approximately 200 criteria grouped into five major themes : the environment, employees, the community, consumers, governance. They must obtain more than 80 points to be certified. B Corp is not a label that is applied to product packaging. It implies the reason for being of the company which must change its statutes to dedicate its commitment to working in the general public interest. Nowadays, B Corp announces that it brings together more than 4,000 companies of all sizes and sectors in 74 countries, including more than 145 in France.
