Gérard Cotellon, general director of the ARS of Reunion, and Geoffroy Mercier, general director of the producer and distributor of drinking water Runéo, signed the “Active Companies of the National Nutrition and Health Program” charter on October 25 during a workshop devoted to balanced nutrition organized for company employees.

Runéo becomes the first private company in Reunion to sign the charter which concretizes its inclusion in the nutritional prevention policy defined by the National Nutrition Health Program (PNNS). Through this action, the company materializes its commitment to the health of its 280 employees. The ARS welcomes this exemplary initiative and encourages the business world to embark on this approach. The commitment charters of active companies of the PNNS offer the opportunity to companies or establishments (public or private) on a voluntary basis, to be part of a civic approach, by proposing nutritional health prevention actions for employees. The PNNS active city charters and the PNNS active establishment charters also mark the commitment of communities or employers to a public health policy., in their field of competence.
A commitment translated by the designation of an “active establishment of the PNSS” within the structure and by the promotion and implementation of nutritional prevention actions in accordance with the recommendations of the PNNS.

At least three actions per year
The signatory undertakes to implement a minimum of three actions each year in at least three of the following seven areas : the food offer, physical activity offering, information and education, Training, support for participation in research, screening, facilitating the management of nutrition-related pathologies. Prevention is at the heart of the fourth national nutrition and health plan (PNNS) 2020-2023, which aims to reduce nutritional pathologies. The first axis of this plan is devoted to improving the food and physical environment allowing people to make the choices most favorable to their health.. In the meeting, the high prevalence of diabetes has led to the development, in addition, a diabetes nutrition program in Reunion (PRND). One of the objectives of this program is to promote nutrition actions in the workplace..

The “optimal tray”
The signing of the charter by Runéo is the culmination of an action plan supported by the Regional Institute of Nutritional Education (IREN). The Equilibri project’ nout barkèt in particular was able to be developed with IREN. This project is based on a food education tool : the “optimal tray”. All employees were invited to participate in the process. Three collaborators in particular approached IREN in order to develop this action plan based on the reintroduction of local fruits and vegetables onto plates at lunch time., on the promotion of physical activity and the screening of certain pathologies such as diabetes.

THE EXEMPLARY GARDENS OF RUNEO
Another signing for Runéo : that of a DAUPI commitment charter (urban planning approach and native plants), November 9 at the Planet Ambition Salon at Nordev, with Maximin Assoune, president of the National Botanical Conservatory of Mascarin.
