Air France announced at the end of October that it will no longer operate from Orly airport from summer 2026.
This decision applies to both domestic and long-haul flights., including those to the Antilles and Reunion. In two and a half years, passengers on Air France Paris-Réunion flights will therefore use Roissy airport, like those of Air Austral. Florence Calla, new Indian Ocean director of the company, assures that this change “will offer even more connections, especially internationally”, to its Reunion clientele. If the news caused little excitement in Reunion, it was not the same in the metropolitan regions furthest from Paris, where the plane is a more attractive solution than the train for business travelers. Elected officials from the Côte d’Azur, from the South region and Occitanie expressed their concern, just like frequent travelers from these regions, emphasizing that Roissy airport is further from Paris than Orly and that transport times and costs to reach the capital are higher. The Air France group will nevertheless continue to operate between Orly and the province, with its low-cost subsidiary Transavia.
