Air Austral resumed its flights between Saint-Denis and Tananarive on October 26, after more than a year and a half of interruption due to health crisis. This decision follows the announcement of the gradual opening of the country's borders from October 23 by the Malagasy authorities.. Two weekly frequencies will initially be provided while the other lines operated by Air Austral on the Big Island (Nosy Be, Fat, Tuléar and Fort-Dauphin) will remain suspended, as long as the Malagasy government has not given the green light. The company had already resumed its service to Mauritius from Saint-Denis on July 16. It announces the strengthening of its flight program to the destination, where vaccinated people are accepted with a minimum of constraints. Additional flights are already scheduled for the next school holidays. This is also the case in Mayotte. On these lines, Air Austral now operates with the three 132-seat Airbus A 220-300s which arrived in its fleet in August. The horizon is also clearing on the other regional lines. Air Austral will resume service to South Africa (Johannesburg) from November 7 and that of India (Chennai) November 19th. The reopening of its services to the Seychelles and Comoros will follow on December 19 and 22. Only its Saint-Denis-Bangkok line remains closed for the moment, despite the gradual reopening of Thailand's borders.
