After the return of moderate attendance during the 2020-2021 southern summer holidays, passenger numbers collapsed again at Roland Garros airport in February and March. The restrictions imposed by the authorities to curb a new epidemic wave had the immediate consequence of a drop in traffic between Paris and Saint-Denis in February (-67%), which became a little more pronounced in March (-75%). 151,248 passengers were recorded in the 1st quarter of 2021, compared to 291,479 in the 1st quarter of 2020. Served by Air Austral but also by Corsair since December 2020, the line between Reunion and Mayotte saw a drop in ridership in February and March, which stands out overall at -43% (21,797 passengers) at the end of the first trimester. Among the other regional lines which touched Roland Garros airport before the start of the health crisis, only a few flights from Mauritius (571 passengers) and Antananarivo (592 passengers) were operated. Over the entire quarter, the airport processed only 176,629 passenger arrivals, departures and passengers in transit, a decrease of 65% compared to 2020.
