Call for projects for the marketing of labeled products, local manufacturers creating 100% Reunion ranges, 100% Reunion Island menu in restaurants, extension of the label to cosmetics… Ideas are flowing around the 100% La Réunion brand, launched by the Department in early 2023. After finding his way, it explores new avenues to better promote the products and know-how of the Reunion region.
To be able to display the 100% La Réunion brand on a product, the company's headquarters and its production site must be located in Reunion Island, that all stages of production take place in Reunion and that the ingredients making up the product are themselves produced in Reunion. These are the specifications of the Department's brand, keen to define Reunion products. In a year and a half, the brand has started to plow its furrow. It is of interest to a growing number of small producers and processors. A sign : local agri-food companies have the idea of creating 100% Reunion Island products within their offering. Creole Sun (ex-Soleil Réunion) is a pioneer at this level with its 100% Reunion peppers sold in its shop at Roland-Garros airport. 100% Reunion Island today brings together 120 professionals in agriculture and small food processing. It also proves that tradition rhymes with innovation by welcoming into its ranks the juices, nectars and coulis Verger de Marie, Salédos chips or Zingi soft drinks. Oté Grand Mèr is also there. Domaine de Bellevue displays the brand on some of its house products, etc. “The perception of the brand is very positive, it settles into the landscape and arouses emulation. The management committee meets four times a year and, every time, we have new requests for membership and extension of the brand to new products”, witness Rémi Labedan, economic project manager in charge of running the 100% La Réunion brand in the Department.

The first check of the labeled, fin 2023, did not identify any deficiencies. Everyone plays the game 100%. Hence the possibility of opening a second page, the one who, to start, will answer the question : where to find and buy 100% La Réunion products ? “Our thinking now includes the visibility and marketing of products. We are open to all solutions. » Online sales with home delivery are one avenue. The Department is considering integrating a private operator into the dynamic of 100% La Réunion. A call for projects should soon be launched on this subject. Cosmetics and food professions
The second stage will also see the extension of the brand’s scope. The idea is moving forward for 100% Réunion menus in gourmet restaurants – André Béton is already doing it, to the plain of the Kaffirs, with its menus exclusively composed of Reunionese products. Other food professions are also affected : bakers, pastry chefs, glaciers, produce 100% Reunion Island. Even further, the objective is clearly cosmetics (at the edge of this sector, Bourbon herbal teas and Réunion Nature herbal teas already display 100% La Réunion). Fact, several innovative cosmetics claim the Reunion origin of their ingredients. Not to mention that other products based on natural components from Reunion Island could see the light of day.
